MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

INDT Nigeria offers six (6) levels of membership which are;

Entry is limited to candidates who have long experience of high caliber and responsibility. No specific qualifications are laid down; each application is assessed on the overall merits of the candidate. Typically, candidate would be of at least ten years standing as a full member of the Institute and have had at least Seven years high caliber experience and achieved a position of high responsibility or Entry is open to a person of vast experience and have occupied a position of high seniority (e.g. a director) and would normally have made or be making a significant contribution to the NDT, condition monitoring or associated industry and or the institute.

The entry is by one of three routes.
Certification Route requires:

Possession of a NDT Level 3 qualification, or equivalent; and a minimum of five years’ combined approved professional development in NDT, condition monitoring or related technologies, with at least two years in position(s) of responsibility

Standard Academic Route requires:

Possession of one or more academic qualifications, for example BSc certificate or equivalent, in an approved subject; and a minimum of five years’ experience in NDT, condition monitoring or allied technologies, of which at least two years shall have been devoted to approved training, with at least two years in position(s) of responsibility.

Individual Route (including Experiential Route):

Applicants who do not have exemplifying qualifications to demonstrate the required knowledge and understanding may do so in other ways via the Individual Route, but must clearly demonstrate they have achieved the same level of knowledge and understanding as those with qualifications.
These ways include:

  • Writing a technical report based on experience and knowledge
  • Following an assessed work-based learning program
  • Taking an acceptable academic program
Entry is by one of two routes:

Standard Academic Route requires:

Possession of one or more relevant academic qualifications, for example Diploma certificate or equivalent, in an approved subject; and a minimum of three years combined approved professional development in NDT, condition monitoring or related technologies.

Affiliate Member

Shall be awarded to person(s) that has interest in Non Destructive Examination (NDE), condition monitoring or related technologies, but is ineligible for membership.

Corporate Member

Shall be accorded to corporate organizations offering or receiving services in Non-destructive Testing, with a minimum of two (2) years operation in this line of business Corporate Members have the privilege of designating three (3) persons as individual members.

Life Member

This shall be awarded to a member/fellow who has distinguished himself by a singular act worthy of note in promoting the institute. He/she shall be nominated and awarded at the congress. All awardees of life membership shall be exempted from annual subscription

Application for Membership

  • Individual, Associate, Affiliate and Corporate Membership shall be upon application accompanied by appropriate membership fees. Such application shall be presented to the Registrar of the institute.
  • All applications for membership of the Institute shall be reviewed by the membership committee, who thereafter recommends the fitness of the applicant for a particular membership class to the National Executive Council’s for approval.
  • On clearance by the National executive Council (NEC), the Registrar shall issue the certificate for the respective class of membership duly signed by the President and Registrar within two months of the Council decision.
  • The design/pattern of the membership “Certificate” to be issued by the Institute shall be approved by the National Executive Council.

NB: There shall be registration and annual membership subscription fee which shall be determined by NEC and communicated to members

Renewal of Membership

  • All membership of the Institute shall be due for renewal on 1st January of every year. Renewal shall be by the payment of Annual membership fee and a documented evidence of continual professional development.
  • Members who fail to renew their membership before 31st of May shall forfeit his/her right and privileges as member until appropriate annual membership fee are paid.
